Estonia is one of the three Baltic Republics, which is also the most northerly of them. It is bordered by the Baltic Sea to the north and west, the Russian Federation to the east and finally Latvia to the south.
Latvia also a Baltic State is bordered by Estonia to the north, Lithuania to the south, the Russian Federation to the east and in the southeast it is bordered by Belarus.
Lithuania is the last of the Baltic Republics, which is situated on the eastern Baltic coast and is bordered by Latvia in the north, on the southwest it is bordered by Kaliningrad region, and Poland and Belarus in the southwest and east.
The Baltic States enjoys a moderate climate with substantial variations. The summers are warm with moderately mild weather in spring and autumn. The winters usually last from November to mid-march and can be very cold - heavy snowfalls are also common during the winter months. The month of August usually experiences the heaviest rainfall.
